Porter closes the door of the hotel at 10 p.m., when return even 30 minutes later you start humiliating begging so he lets you in. Looks kind of idiotic - if you want to keep the place secure, let the people open the door with their room key.
The proximity to the museums and the quiet location
The location is excellent. Right in the centre. This is already second time we stayed at this hotel. Breakfast is good. This time we took twin Superior room as otherwise the rooms are too small. Staff was very nice.
The only thing we had a TV which looked like TV from 1970s. Havent seen TVs like this for many years now. It was located very high, so hard to see, very small screen and very old.
The location in wa very good
Good breakfast, excellent location, very friendly and helpfull staff
First room was a bit cold due to draft, but got a new room which was excellent
the hotel is walking distance from the museum area and the main shopping street
the room was not insulated well, no double window so it was a little bit cold
Poor noise insulation of windows. My room was on the 1th floor - i could not sleep good, because someone was constantly rustling outside. Unfortunately, it was all very well hear, though my window was closed. I concider that silent nighttime - it is very important.
The breakfast was very nice. There was a variety of fresh breads, cereals and pastries and a small buffet of cooked items and cold meats. Eggs could be cooked to order and fresh coffee served in large jugs. There was even some fizz to liven up your fruit juice.
Front desk staff were great. Helped with maps, suggestions, extra pillows, etc. The single room was small to medium size, fully functional with 2 windows that opened, a seating area, nice size bathroom, coffee/tea making, flat screen TV and a wall mount radio/CD player. (An ipod adaptor would be a nice update) Quiet tree lined street and close to shopping, restaurants, museums and the park. After I checked out they stored my bags for the day. My friend was meeting me at 7, I returned exhausted at 4. Kelly at the front desk invited me to relax in the lounge while I waited even though I was no longer a guest. I was very grateful.
Although the hotel has a lift, there were 8 - 10 stairs to my room. After a long journey I did not want to haul my bag around again.
Great service - staff were very helpful; Good bar service and the breakfast buffet was excellent
I would have like if the wifi was included in the room rate
The location was excellent and the rooms very comfortable, i would definitely stay there again if going to Amsterdam, as would the rest of my group.
Great location - extremely close to the tram line direct from Centraal Station and perfect location for visiting the main museums.
It was very warm and we could not work out how to use the temperature control was not obvious. Staff were unable to help as they were too busy.
Second time I was there, definitely one of my favourite hotels in Amsterdam
best service I have ever experienced !!!! very professional and friendly stuff helpful in all citations. Small spotlessly clean room with a small bathroom - both comfortable despite the size. Excellent location in a good central district. plus there is a tea/coffee free of charge in the room, which is very comfortable if you come late. Book your museum tickets from the reception to avoid the lines. I would stay again and recommend to others.
minor comments only, we had a great time staying in the hotel. 1) you would need to switch off the light before going to sleep, there is no central switch near the bed. 2) shower curtain in the bathroom (it's very clean, i simply don't like the idea of a curtain). 3) the room itself is not very large, keep in mind to call the hotel in advance to arrange a larger room if you are staying longer than just a few days.
Great rooms, comfortable bed, quiet location near museums
